21 Savage delivered one of the most iconic performances in the 2023 NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. The hip-hop star, who recently collaborated on the album “Her Loss” with Canadian artist Drake, became the game’s highlight by scoring the 21st point for Team Wade.
The hip-hop star played alongside some of the most significant global and American stars, such as Janelle Monae, Ranveer Singh from India, and comedian Hasan Minhaj. The other featured stars in the game were rapper Cordae, WWE star The Miz, and tennis player Francis Tiafoe.
21’s team won the match 81-78 after The Miz did a half-court heave which was waived off. Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf won the MVP of the match after pulling a stunner performance. The NFL star had 20 points registered in the game with 10 rebounds and four blocks on 9/16 shooting.
21 Savage is highly appreciated within the NBA community, with the ‘Her Loss’ star being appreciated by 12-time All-Star player Kevin Durant. The Nets superstar praised the rapper when he released his collaborative album with the Canadian rapper Drake. Durant says, “It’s a classic already. It’s one of the ones that we’ve been waiting on. It’s all types of music on there.”
In the All-Star game, 21 Savage started alongside his teammate Janelle Monae in the first quarter. Monae struggled at the start of the game, playing both on the offensive and defensive ends for Team Wade. 21 was able to pull an assist for tennis star Francis Tiafoe.
The ‘Rich Flex‘ artist played brilliantly but served a hard foul and two turnovers. He did make a valuable contribution to the team, scoring a 3-pointer which grabbed Team Wade a 21-19 lead with just a minute and a half left in that quarter. In the opponent team, fellow rapper Cordae failed to get any points for Team Ryan. Cordae was later seen relishing pizza on the sidelines with coach Fat Joe.
In this nail-biting and exciting match, 21’s team gained a solid victory of 81-78 at the end of the game. WWE star The Miz tried a failed half-court heave which gave Team Wade their much-necessary incentive to grab the win.
Before this game, the teams competed with each other in a 4-point challenge, where players could earn $4000 per bucket scored with a lead to start the match.
NFL star DK Metcalf was named the MVP of the match, scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds in the game. The Seattle Hawks receiver also showed off his skills in basketball with over half a dozen dunks, showing the crowd his prowess beyond professional football.
Nevertheless, the All-Star Celebrity match was an excellent show for the fans ahead of the NBA All-Star game, wherein Team LeBron will be facing Team Giannis this Sunday, February 19.
