Lee Pesky Learning Center Receives $45K Grant from CapEd Credit Union

Lee Pesky Learning Center (LPLC) received the first of three disbursements of a $45,000 grant from CapEd Credit Union on Dec. 5. LPLC is a 501c3 education nonprofit headquartered in Boise.

Funding provided by CapEd will support LPLC’s Tier 1 Every Child Ready to Learn (ECRL) programming which ensures early childhood educators have resources to help students make gains in early learning literacy, mathematics and self-regulated learning.

High-quality early learning experiences ensure that children enter school with the foundational skills necessary for success. Lacking such skills places students at risk for long-term academic remediation, referral to special education and increased risk of school dropout.

CapEd’s funding will allow Lee Pesky Learning Center to provide 1,000 kindergarten readiness kits annually to children and families throughout the Treasure Valley for the next three years.

“Lee Pesky Learning Center is honored to receive this grant from CapEd, a champion of early learning,"said LPLC’s Executive Director Dr. Lindy Crawford. "We are committed to improving outcomes for our youngest learners and humbled by the opportunity to do so.”

According to the National Education Association, Idaho ranks last in per-pupil spending. Through CapEd’s partnership, LPLC looks forward to strengthening early childhood education efforts to ensure all individuals are supported on their pathway to learning.

CapEd is committed to supporting quality education, values the power of partnerships, and is proud to support Lee Pesky Learning Center’s contributions to Early Childhood Education.
