LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) - Several changes are coming to Texas Roadhouse in 2024.
According to Eat This, Not That, citing Texas Roadhouse's most recent earnings call, the Kentucky-based chain will see several changes this year. The outlet reported that Texas Roadhouse is making adjustments to react to supply chain issues and inflation.
During the earnings call, Texas Roadhouse Chief Financial Officer Chris Monroe confirmed a 2.2% menu price hike, which was set to take effect at all Texas Roadhouse locations by the end of March. It was the company's third price hike, with a 2.2% hike implemented in April of 2023 and a second 2.7% hike implemented in October of 2023.
Monroe said the hike was meant to help the company "offset inflationary pressures."
The company's leadership also announced its intention to open more restaurants across the country. Texas Roadhouse CEO Jerry Morgan announced that the chain would open 30 company-owned locations in 2024, according to the outlet, which reported that the company will close out 2024 with approximately 800 restaurants.
Per the outlet, Texas Roadhouse will also begin to build bigger, with new locations planned to be 10% larger than locations constructed before the COVID-19 pandemic. Eat This, Not That reported that the extra space will be utilized to expand the back-of-house and dedicated to-go areas.
According to the outlet, Texas Roadhouse will embrace a digital kitchen, with the company planning to distance itself from a traditional ticket system.
"We've really been talking strategically about how to get the whole roadhouse concept on that digital kitchen format, because of the many benefits that we see not only for the commotion in the kitchen itself, but even the ability to track our cook times and so many features that we believe will enhance our experience for our employees in the back of the house," Morgan said, per the outlet.
The company's CEO also said that the company hopes to continue leaning into and increasing guests' awareness of its digital platform. Texas Roadhouse rolled out Roadhouse Pay, a pay-at-the-table system, to most locations in 2023, as well as a digital waitlist that checks in customers before they arrive at the restaurant.
