LaCava started his career serving as a caddie for his cousin Ken Green in 1987. The caddie gained major recognition when he was hired by Freddie Couples in 1990. They went on to winning 12 times on the PGA Tour, including the 1996 Players Championship. After joining Woods, LaCava has certainly earned his place and the trust of the golfer. LaCava joined Woods when his long time caddie Steve Williams left. A caddie generally earns around 5 to 10% of the golfer’s winnings over and above his/her base salary. According to a Forbes report, a caddie makes a base salary of anywhere between $1,500 to $2,500 per week during golf tournaments. Woods made a whopping $5.4 million during his 2018 PGA Tour.

Seeing Woods’ earnings, LaCava made around $272,000 to $544,000 in the year. Along with that, caddies also make money from partnerships with other brands. Forbes notes that caddies for big golfers like Tiger, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy, can earn more than $200,000 a year from endorsements. Joe LaCava’s salary is certainly worthy of the work he does, and has left the world surprised.
